SE July - The Engineer

WELP. The final entry for Space-Extravaganza -- the theme was "Culture"
so after a long, long time of trying to figure out how to incorporate Troll culture into an outfit (seriously though how do you fit violence and imperial conquest and space and quadrants and a strict color-based caste system and all that into ONE outfit??) I finally settled on this.

One big aspect of Troll culture/mythology/history is the concept of Ancestors--or, the Troll that contributed the most to the current Troll's genetics. Trolls share both blood color and symbol (and, often, both physical and mental traits) with their Ancestor, and often Trolls will model themselves after their Ancestor. Often, Ancestors' clothing is much more complicated than their descendants' clothing, and more often than not comes in the form of black with patterns reminiscent of their symbol. Which is why this outfit has a whole lot of half-circles and lines.

So! I drew Crista in the outfit of her Ancestor, who was known as The Engineer. The Engineer was, obviously, an engineer--for a crew of revolutionaries, back before space travel was a thing. Because space flight had yet to be invented, The Engineer provided them with transportation in the form of what was essentially an airship.

And then the circle in the background has a rainbow on it to represent the Hemospectrum, the Troll's caste system. :'D

This isn't as good as my last entry, I feel, but... yeah. I didn't get started on it early enough and didn't have enough ideas to make it really special. So instead I just tried to work really hard on the clothing folds, especially on the pants.

SO YEAH.
